Sportsbet.io bows out of Sao Paulo Sponsorship
In a notable development, cryptocurrency sportsbook Sportsbet.io is set to relinquish its front-of-shirt sponsorship for São Paulo, with Superbet poised to take over as the official sponsor from January 2024. This marks the conclusion of Sportsbet.io’s association with the esteemed Brazilian side.
Financial Aspects and Contractual Adjustments
Reports indicate that Superbet secured the sponsorship rights with a substantial offer, totaling R$180 million over a three-year contract. Notably, a termination fee of R$24 million was negotiated to facilitate the early conclusion of Sportsbet.io’s sponsorship agreement. The decision by Sportsbet.io not to match the offered terms played a crucial role in this sponsorship shift.
Recognition of Past Collaboration
Earlier in the year, São Paulo expressed appreciation for the significant role played by Sportsbet.io during the club’s triumphant season. The cryptocurrency sportsbook became São Paulo’s primary sponsor in September 2022, contributing significantly to the team’s success in clinching the Copa do Brasil title.
Impactful Partnerships
São Paulo underscores Sportsbet.io’s efforts in extending beyond traditional sponsorship boundaries. The sportsbook collaborated with São Paulo-based influencer and nutritionist Rodrigo Góes, creating engaging content on Instagram. The resulting videos garnered over 800,000 views, highlighting the effectiveness of this innovative partnership.
Social Media Success
Sportsbet.io’s tenure as São Paulo’s main sponsor was characterized by a robust social media presence. The sportsbook posted more than 50 times on Instagram, amassing over 1.8 million likes and comments. Additionally, 110 published Instagram stories received a collective viewership of 700,000. Twitter engagement was equally noteworthy, accumulating over 55,000 likes, comments, and shares during live-tweeting sessions celebrating the club’s successes.
As Superbet assumes the role of São Paulo’s new front-of-shirt sponsor, the Brazilian football landscape witnesses a shift in sponsorship dynamics, with Sportsbet.io gracefully bowing out.
