Action Hero Gambling Games

GOSU GUIDE

In the online gambling arena, virtually every theme imaginable has been exploited, and for lovers of cinema, loads of characters from many box office and cult hits have made their way onto digital reels. In this article, we focus on some cool games that have old-school action stars on their grids, creating adrenaline-boosting action in a different way.

Fantasy Mission Force

We thought it was most appropriate to begin this article by talking about a game that includes Jackie Chan, who is one of the most prolific and impressive action stars the silver screen has ever seen. Sadly, this is a game based on a Chan Hong Kong movie few people have heard of. Fantasy Mission Force is one of Jackie’s earlier action star roles, from 1983, a time when he had moved away from period kung fu movies and was diving into more modern fare. It co-starred Brigitte Lin and Jimmy Wang Yu. The latter is a Hong Kong icon and the star of classics like Master of the Flying Guillotine and the One-Armed Swordsman.

Fantasy Mission Force is an RTG (Realtime Gaming) low variance spinner listing a max win of x25,000, a betting range of $0.20 to $100, and a 5×3 layout with twenty paylines. The gameplay in it is fairly standard, presenting wilds, multipliers, free spins, and a jackpot prize.

Bloodsport

The movie that launched Jean-Claude Van Damme’s The Muscles from Brussels into global superstardom was, without a doubt, Bloodsport. It got distributed in 1988, after initially getting labeled as unwatchable by its production company Cannon, who recut the film and released it in February of 1988. It became a surprise sleeper hit for Cannon, the main B action movie studio of the 1980s, responsible for classics such as Ninja III: The Domination, American Ninja, Delta Force, and many others.

The Skywind Group from Belarus created this reel-spinning title that got unleashed onto online casinos in October of 2019. It is a high-variance one with a disappointingly low RTP of 93.52%, eighty-eight paylines, and a max win of only x250. Nonetheless, some sites allow a top wager of $600 per spin on this game, which is staggeringly high.

Van Dame and Bolo Yeung flank the 5×5 grid that can expand to a size of 5×11. In truth, this game took us by surprise regarding how bonus-rich it was and how faithful its presentation was to the Bloodsport film. It has sound bites from the film, all its main fighters, a pick’em mini-game, a wheel one, expanding symbols, free spins, jackpots, and more. It is pretty cool, actually.

Rambo

Loads of film fans are unaware that the initial Rambo movie is not actually called Rambo but First Blood. What is funny is that the second one bears the name Rambo: First Blood Part 2, and the fourth one is just Rambo. Strange. The second to last entry in this series, Rambo (Rambo 4), came out in 2008, and it is the shortest film in the franchise and the one with probably the least dialogue. It is all action and violent action at that. Unlike anything else, Sylvester Stallone had done up to that point. However, he did come close to matching the level of gore in Rambo with the next addition to this series.

There are three Rambo games in this slotverse, this one by Stakelogic and two more from iSoftBet. Stakelogic’s Rambo came out in 2020, using Rambo 4 as its source material. You get a painterly Stallone-like main character here, which reminds you of the actor but does not look just like him. We do not know why Stakelogic’s team did not do a better job with Stallone’s face, given that clips from the movie get used here, ones with Stallone in them. But, they may not have had his likeness rights.

Now, onto the specifications of Rambo. It is a medium-high slot with a ranging RTP that should sit at a default setting of 94.51%. The highest win you can expect to hit here is one of x7,125 on a top bet of $50, and the gameplay here features respins, expanding symbols, wilds, and a free spin bonus that is super standard, lacking any extra bells and whistles, only explosive wilds that create multiplier ones.

Robocop

For many film fans – Robocop, directed by Dutch filmmaker Paul Verhoeven, was a game-changer. It was a sci-fi action flick that featured hyper-violence and gore. Its story revolves around a police officer named Alex Murphy who gets murdered by a group of criminals and gets turned into a cyborg by a megacorporation called Omni Consumer Products (OCP), whose duty is to fight crime. Robocop was not a massive commercial success, but it was a decent hit when it came out in 1987, and sadly, it got followed up by two poor sequels and a disappointing remake.

Playtech has released two Robocop slots, the first debuting in May of 2017 and the cash collector edition appearing online in February of 2024, to our knowledge. We will talk about the original here, which is a 96.24% RTP reel spinner whose gaming fun plays out on a 5×3 grid with twenty-five paylines. Robocop by Playtech features characters from the original movie, has a pick’em round, and multiple bonus modes, among which the Shootout Free Games is the highlight of this product. Although, we must say that we love that the Robocop theme gets included here, and you get to watch clips from the film.

Expendables Megaways

We could have closed off this list with Playtech’s Blade, that same company’s Top Gun release, or Aristocrat’s Mad Max Fury Road. Yet, we chose to go with Stakelogic’s second Expendables title, the New Mission Megaways one that became available in May 2020. It is a cascading spinner with up to 117,649 paylines, Stallone, Statham, Lundgren, and Crews symbols, a Golden Skull feature, a gamble one, a Super Stake mode, and free spins with a progressive win multiplier.

Four Expendables movies have been released to date. For those unfamiliar with the concept behind these motion pictures, they bring together some of the most legendary action actors, giving fans of the genre a heavy dose of nostalgia. In our eyes, the second one, which hit theaters in 2012 with Van Damme as the villain, was the best of the series. It peaked there and went downhill after this addition.
