Located in the Southeastern Pacific Ocean, Easter Island is a territory of Chile renowned for its collection of monumental statues, called moai, that almost total one thousand. It is a creation of the Rapa Nui people, indigenous to this island, a location that is also a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Perhaps you have seen the 1994 Kevin Reynolds-directed movie Rapa Nui, which provides a glimpse into what life was like on this slice of land as it depicts the relationship between two warring tribes.

Unlike the mentioned movie, this game does not aim to be brutally realistic. In fact, it has an entirely different goal in mind. It boasts a happy-go-lucky vibe and surfing motifs. We have to say, the visuals here are impressive. They feature smooth 3D graphics and animations. These are of a quality that we have rarely come across in slot games. The setting here is a beach at dusk, as the background is a 2D image, and only the main foreground elements are 3D models.

Easter Island 2 uses many colors, with only the reel grid, held in a wooden structure, remaining sharp. The background scene has a washed-out, unsaturated look engulfed in a pleasing pink hue emanating from the setting sun. Two Easter Island statues wearing hats and glasses sing and dance by the reel, enthusiastically reacting to big-win scenarios. A seagull pops in and out of view from the lower left and right corners of the screen.

The music in this game is the typical light beach fare that mainly acts like background fodder.

The buttons panel here implements all the standard options, with the spin functions in the middle of this configuration. The bet adjuster is on its left side, while the win/balance information is on its right section.

The low-paying symbols of this release are the standard card suits chiseled out of wooden blocks. They pay out wins of x2 for six matching symbols appearing adjacent on a payline. The high-paying tokens of this slot are the heads of five wood-carved animals. From what we can tell, these are fish, a snake, a turtle, a fox, and an owl. Bonus Features

Many of the features present in the original have stayed put in this sequel, with some tweaks. Thus, we can say that the DNA of the game has remained largely unchanged.

The essence of this Yggdrasil product is its Symbol Swap Respins mode. When you hit a winning combo consisting of low-paying symbols, the game replaces all the other low-paying tokens in the respin. The same thing happens in scenarios when a high-pay symbol combo forms, all the other high-pay symbols get replaced in the respin.

When a win combination of three symbols or more forms, the Colossal Symbol Blocks get thrown onto the grid, plus the Symbol Swap Respin comes into play. If you hit a win with four-of-a-kind tokens, 2×2 blocks will appear on the reels on the respin. A win consisting of five matching tokens will produce a respin with 3×3 blocks, and one comprised of six identical symbols will generate a respin with a 4×4 block.

The most exciting bonus feature of Easter Island 2, in our opinion, is that when you hit a combo consisting of six identical pay symbols, you will get awarded a respin, with the grid expanding to a size of 8×6. Plus, the number of paylines will increase to fifty-five.
