Long-term BTCGOSU followers may know that one of the first games we ever reviewed on our site was the initial Money Train slot, which we analyzed in November 2020. The second one from Relax Gaming we looked at was this title’s sequel, and over the years, we have analyzed sixteen spinners from this famous company, famous for its cinematic intros and terrific visuals. For the seventeenth Relax Gaming slot to get featured on BTCGOSU, we have chosen Ancient Tumble, an adventurer-themed gaming product that is a part of this supplier’s Tumble series. Per the brand’s CPO, Shelley Hannah, it is Relax’s most feature-packed slot and is a highly anticipated release that is sure to stun interactive gamblers worldwide.

Ancient Tumble debuted at the end of June, on the 25th of this month, and it has hovered in the one hundred to two hundred standings in most developed markets for the first month of its availability. That is not bad. It seems to be doing best in Poland, Spain, and South Africa for some reason, and the chief one we are reviewing is because it has impressive 3D visuals for an online slot. The many features also did their part, but the look of this game is what captivated us most when we stumbled upon it.

Theme & Design

We mentioned cinematic intro above, and you get one here that would feel right at home in a high-budget video game, as it features some quite realistic graphics. You do not see a whole lot of 3D slots nowadays, and without question, this is one of the better-looking ones that have come around, using the adventure genre and a virtual rainforest as its setting.

We do not want to waste too much space discussing the visuals here, which appear to be something out of a late 2000s PC game. We shall only add that we feel the background here is too static and a bit low-rent for the 3D foreground visuals, and the music could have been more engaging in Ancient Tumble. There is a lack of cohesion here on multiple fronts, and this game’s presentation did not live up to our high expectations, ones we set after seeing a preview for this Relax release. You can find all the main buttons in this reel-spinning title at the bottom of your screen, with the upgrade spin options sitting left of the 6×6 setup, next to our hero, who does a funny jump in big win situations.

Specs & Gameplay

In terms of specs, this is a 6×6 spinner with a high-variance math model, a betting range that moves from $0.20 to $100 per spin, over forty-six thousand betways, and an RTP that sits slightly above the industry average of 96.1%. That max win in Ancient Tumble is x10,000, which is excellent.

You create winning combos in this online slot by matching three to six same-type symbols on adjacent reels. The vertical position on these does not matter. They do not have to touch you to get a prize. There are four card royals that assume the role of this game’s low-pay tokens, producing wins of x0.20 for six-of-a-kind combos. Then you have three different-colored gems that generate wins of x0.30 to x0.50 for six identical gems hitting on a betway, and the two masks supply wins of x3 for the green one and x5 for the red one when six matching ones land on the same spin, on adjacent reels. The Rich Wilde-like character is the wild in Ancient Tumble.

Bonus Features

We will start listing the features of this slot by first discussing its Unbreakable Wilds (stone monkey Ws) and Coin Symbols. The first is found in all modes and destroys regular symbols below them after every cascade. However, they cannot do anything to stone blocks, coins, or wilds of their kind. They stay at the bottom row until they are part of a winning combo or a round end. Coins are available in Coin Spins, Coin Free Spins, and Super Free Spins, hidden in stone blocks or landing during cascades. A destroyed block holding a coin reveals a coin awarding a prize of x1 to x25 at the end of the round.

Coin multipliers enhance the gameplay in Coin Spins and Coin Free Spins. These multiply wins from any coins at the end of the round and can appear on any spin or cascade. Colossal tokens (2×2 to 5×5) appear in the Colossal Spins, the Colossal Free Spins, and the Super Free Spins. They replace the space regular symbols occupy, significantly boosting your win potential.

The super cool thing about Ancient Tumble is that it has four distinct bonus (free spin) modes. Vanquishing all stone blocks in the base game awards six on-the-house spins, allowing you to select between the Coin, the Classic, the Colossal, or the Multiplier Ladder Free Spin round. Each one has unique features. The Coin Free Spins introduce three to fourteen coin stones on every spin, with coin multipliers in the mix. The Classic round has extra spins stone blocks along with multiplier-enhanced special ones. The Colossal Free Spins include colossal symbols, while the Multiplier mode increases a multiplier after each win and each new spin, awarding extra ones for specific milestones.

Now we move to the Golden Spins that can randomly trigger during base ones. You also have Enhanced, Coin, and Colossal Spins, offering an increased chance to win. If all stone blocks get destroyed during a Golden Spin, then the Super Free Spins get triggered. That is a round blending different aspects from all regular free spins options, with multiplier stones increasing the multiplier ladder by one. The Lucky Boost feature can randomly enhance any bonus mode, and you get different feature buy options in Ancient Tumble. For example, you can purchase the Super Free Spins for x400.

We suggest you read the info page of this game and test it out in demo mode before committing to playing it, as we are not so sure we explained everything correctly, and due to the wealth of features here, things can get quite convoluted. We would have simply needed loads more page real estate to cover everything in-depth, so we tried to run the bonuses here as concisely as possible.

GOSU Verdict

We are somewhat conflicted about Ancient Tumble, and this may be the first game we have reviewed where we have gotten left undecided. We like loads of features, but there may be too many here, and we are not sure that this is necessarily a positive. Still, because it does something few slots do, we must praise it for that and express our disappointment that the presentation here was not as good as we hoped or that we got tricked into believing it would be.
