London Tube Slot Review
We think we have previously reported on Red Tiger’s most-sizeable moves in 2023, as the company’s partnership with REEVO, a cutting-edge gaming solution provider, and their distribution of games to US-based sites. Currently, Red Tiger keeps up a release schedule of three games monthly. But in July 2023, they only unleashed two titles in the interactive gaming sphere, Bounty Raid 2 and London Tube. The latter made its way into casino lobbies worldwide on July 13th and has done so-so in most markets. However, in its targeted one, the UK, at writing, it ranks among the fifty most played slots. So, let us see how it stacks up in our eyes.
Theme & Design
The London Tube is the colloquial term for the world’s first underground railway found in the capital of England. It got opened in 1863 and dramatically reduced street congestion in the Big Smoke. The Tube acted as the catalyst for the emergence of multiple railway companies in Britain, leading to various disputes that generated rivalries and delayed further progress. It should get noted that the first successful underground railway did not become practical until safe lifts and electric power got perfected. That happened in the 1880s. In 1933, all public transport systems came under public ownership, and in 1977, the Tube reached Heathrow Airport. Without question, this transport network is a world-famous landmark of London, and it is the theme of this Red Tiger spinner.
Some may rank this release under the sub-category of British-themed games. Yet, we think that a better classification is super-cartoony-looking slots. London Tube has an arcade-game vibe mixed in with cartoony visuals rich in color. The setting here is a wall-tiled Tube stop where two lanes exist, and trains fly between them. The reels spin in the foreground, and the game logo rests at the top of the 5×4 grid by the Next Train sign. The music implemented in this spinner is light-listening background fare, and the sound effects are suitable, fitting in nicely.
The buttons here are in their traditional Red Tiger places. You have the spin and turbo-spin ones in the bottom right. And the stake adjuster with the auto-spin functions in the bottom left. In the top right corner. You have the full-screen and the mute buttons. The balance info is in the top left.
Specs & Gameplay
London Tube is a 5×4 spinner with a default RTP of 95.7%, boasting a medium variance and a max win of x6,000. The betting range here starts at $0.1, moving up to $40/$400 per spin, with the number of available betways being 1,024.
Wins here happen when matching symbols form on adjacent reels, paying from left to right. Note that three identical tokens or more must position themselves on these pre-defined lines to claim a prize. The low-pay ones are your standard A-10 royals producing wins from x0.4 to x1 for five-of-a-kind combinations. The premiums of London Tube are the five characters, the gamer, the black lady, the elderly one, the guy with headsets on, and a Bobby cop, with the wins provided by five-of-a-kind combos constructed by symbols from this batch ranging from x1.4 to x4.
The newspaper token is the wild here, and it substitutes all pay symbols while also producing wins of x4 for five instances of it appearing on the 5×4 grid. The rushing red train is the scatter token in London Tube.
Bonus Features
The train on the London slot Tube arrives on every tenth reel rotation. When that time comes, the Tube symbol hits, leaving a golden frame. If another Tube lands there, it shall duplicate itself to a different position. After the tenth reel rotation, if one position has gold around it, then the Train Arrival mode triggers, and all the framed spots get upgraded with wilds, ways multipliers, or cash prizes with random values of x1 to x50.
Hitting three to five train scatters actives the London Tube bonus round, and it begins with nine, twelve, or fifteen on-the-house spins, depending on the number of activating scatters. When that occurs, between complementary reel rotations, three frames shift to random grid positions, and they award cash prizes, multipliers, or wilds. If you manage to hit a scatter inside the free spins round, it will move the London train to the next spot. When you arrive at the Bonus Station, you will get a prize of three to five extra spins, a win multiplier of x1 to x3, or one to two Golden Frames. Remember that the win multiplier does not reset until this mode concludes and it stacks.
GOSU Verdict
London’s history is vast and super-rich. And its underground transportation system is an essential part of it. Though this game that uses it as its inspiration is unlikely to leave a similarly indelible mark on the online slot universe. In all honesty, it is quite a boring spinner with uninspiring specs and bonus features. We doubt that this Red Tiger creation will wow anyone, and it will likely fall off in the UK rankings soon. The only thing we found interesting about is its visuals. It lacks depth and, frankly, is low on charm.
