Devil’s Number Slot Review
So far, the only Red Tiger game that we have reviewed on BTCGOSU is Reel King Mega. Given that that is not an original creation, we feel Red Tiger has no presence on our site. Thus, we have set out to change that by looking at one of their recent popular releases, Devil’s Number. However, first, a sentence or two about this underrated provider. Founded in 2014, this Isle of Man-based company has set loose close to two hundred reel-spinners on gaming enthusiasts. In 2019, NetEnt bought them out, bringing their Megaways license into its fold. Thanks to the Swedish juggernaut, since December of 2020, Red Tiger games are available at US online casinos.
Devil’s Number came out a little before the highly publicized NetEnt acquisition. It hit gambling sites in April of 2019 and quickly stormed the rankings charts. User activity went down at the start of 2021, but it is now back in the limelight, shining as bright as ever, inside the top 100.
Theme & Design
Everyone knows that the number of the beast is 666. Though, few are aware of where this figure derives from, as most are associated with the Iron Maiden song and the famous William Blake painting. Chapter 13 of the Book of Revelation cryptically refers to it. Nevertheless, the truth is that popular culture was the thing that blew up 666 as something widely associated with the Antichrist. Red Tiger uses it in such a way here that it infuses the theme with cartoony graphics. So while there is an attempt to emulate a gothic feel here, you will hardly get spooked by anything featured in this slot, as most things are colorful and charming.
Devil’s Number is a 2D game that features imagery similar to that of 1990s cartoons. The first thing that came to mind when we popped it open was Batman: The Animated Series. Some slight animation overlays try to add a sense of depth to the base gameplay setting, which is an empty underground library. Things get a little eerier when you enter the Free Spins Round, as everything goes dark, and fire enters the picture. The base game has no soundtrack, but the Free Spins Round has a pretty decent metal one. The sound effects here are par for the course, except for a few cool guitar riffs.
You can find the spin and turbo-spin buttons in your bottom right corner. The bet-adjuster and the auto-spin functions are in the bottom left one. The sound, full-screen, and settings icons are in your top right, and the balance info is in the top left corner.
Specs & Gameplay
Devil’s Number is a five-reel, four-row slot with thirty paylines. It is a high variance game with a below-than-average default RTP of 95.05%. Though, some operators carry a version with a payback percentage of 96.10%. Bet sizes here range between $0.2 and $40, and the max exposure is x2.520. You form winning combos here by landing three to five identical symbols on adjacent reels, starting from the leftmost one.
The low-paying symbols here are A-10 royals in the game-specific font. They yield rewards that range between x1.2 to x2 for five-of-a-kind. The high-paying ones are two scrolls, a secret book, a cauldron, and three potion bottles. Five matching tokens from this batch will provide a prize between x4 and x12 of your stake.
There is no Wild here, while the royal nine acts as a Scatter.
Bonus Features
Devil’s Number has two random features. They are Upgrade and Removal. The first activates on the high-paying symbol wins only. The mark of the beast will burn these and boost your reward. The latter, Removal, triggers on low-paying wins. It is a tumble mechanic where symbols that are part of the winning combo explode, allowing new tokens to fall onto the grid.
Hitting three Scatters will gain you entry in the Free Spins Round and provide twelve complimentary reel rotations. If you manage to hit three more Scatters during this mode, you will get an additional six free spins. The two random features are now active on any win. High-paying symbols get an upgrade and remain until the end of the mode, while the low-paying ones get removed from the grid.
GOSU Verdict
There are quite a few devil-themed reel-spinners in the interactive gaming space. We do not know if that’s a bad thing. What we are aware of is that this is the slot that most prominently features the number 666. It is put to good use here. However, with that positive out of the way, there isn’t anything that we can say that will get you super-excited to play this Red Tiger product. It has some charm, and we like the random features. Other than those things, and the heavy metal soundtrack, it is mediocre in all other areas. Thus, we would skip this one unless the theme appeals to you.
