Bounty Raid 2 Slot Review
We have done our share of Red Tiger reviews. In fact, other than Pragmatic Play and potentially Play’n GO, this provider may be the company whose games we have most looked at in our site’s history. In the past year, they have upped the ante by unleashing around three games per month, and we most recently checked out London Tube, which we were not too fond of.
Now, we have set our sights on Bounty Raid 2, a new Red Tiger slot. This is a title that, when we wrote this page, was the most-played spinner in this company’s portfolio. Naturally, this is a sequel to Bounty Raid, a game that hit the Web in June 2020 and still enjoys a decent popularity level. Its successor appeared online on the 27th of July, 2023. And has broken through to the top fifty rankings in the UK and is trending in the top ten standings in countries like Ireland, Germany, India, Brazil, Denmark, Sweden, Malta, and the Netherlands. Hence, we have ample reason to review it. So, strap in, and let us go for this analysis ride together.
Theme & Design
Of course, the theme here is the American Wild West. At writing, this was the most-played game in this sub-genre, with Heist for the Golden Nuggets by Pragmatic Play and surprising Mega Fire Blaze Wild Pistolero from Rare Stone ranking high. By our estimates, some two hundred and fifty titles feature cowboys or the Wild West, and much credit for the emergence of this category as one of the sector’s most prominent ones must be given to NetEnt’s Dead or Alive.
In many ways, Bounty Raid 2 does not differ substantially from its predecessor. It has a very similar ornamented metal frame where its 5×4 layout lives. Though in this release, the grid frame is much more complex but still features the bison skull in the same position as in the original Bounty Raid slot. The graphics in both games boast the same painterly image quality. In the sequel, they are a bit more complex, and the setting is different. While in the first game of what is hopefully a series, the reels spun before a trail where cowboys were deep in a chase, here, they do so before a saloon. Also, the backdrop in Bounty Raid 2 gets complemented with slight light and item movement animations that help make it feel not as static. That was not the case in the original.
However, the soundtracks of both releases are eerily similar. They are not identical but are close enough to get mistaken for one another. The games also utilize a different cast of characters aside from the female lead, which is the same.
The button setup in Bounty Raid 2 is the traditional Red Tiger one. So, you have the spin and turbo-spin functions in the bottom right, the auto-spin and stake adjuster in the bottom left, and below them, you can find links to the help page and the pay table one. You can mute the game and get it to go full-screen via icons in the top right, and your balance info gets displayed in the top left.
There is nothing wrong with the presentation of Bounty Raid 2. And we would rank it as above-average, but it has a very been-there-done-that vibe.
Specs & Gameplay
Let us now compare the specs. The RTP of this Red Tiger release is 95.68% by default, the variance is medium, the max win stands at x2,372, the number of paylines is twenty, and the betting range moves from $0.10 to $40. The original Bounty Raid had an RTP of 94.72%, lists also a medium variance, ten paylines, a maximum exposure of x1,000, and wager sizes started at $0.1 and moved up to $100. That game utilized a 5×3 grid, unlike the 5×4 one in this sequel.
All token combo pay left to right in Bounty Raid 2, and you need three or more matching symbols to land a payline to claim a prize. The low-pay tokens are playing cards, and the premiums are a pair of boots, what appears to be a glass flask, a revolver, a bison skull, and gold bars. Symbols from the first batch supply wins of x1 to x2.5 for five-of-a-kind combinations, and those from the second give out rewards of x3 to x8 for the same number of identical tokens appearing on the same spin. On top of these, Bounty Raid 2 also has Bandit scatters that boast instant prizes, and there is a sheriff image that captures these renegades, but more on that below.
Bonus Features
As mentioned, the Bandits hold reward values, the bounties, and when they hit, these criminals can remain in place for up to five reel rotations, boosting their value on each one. When they show up next to each other, the bandit with the higher values overlays his bounty to his adjacent fellow outlaws if the Bounty Hunter or Sherrif is in view. The latter is a non-playing symbol, acting as a collector, and only one Sherrif may appear per spin. He also cannot land along with the 1×4 stacked female Bounty Hunter, who only occupies the middle reel. When she pops up, the Bandits get locked, and the Hold & Spin round activates. It starts with three respins, with only Bandits and empty tokens landing. For each bandit that shows up, the spin meter resets to three. When this feature concludes, the outlaws’ values get added up and rewarded.
GOSU Verdict
Ah, we wanted to like this game. Alas, we feel that it is average. The visuals, while good, are nothing we can get overly excited about, and the same goes for the game mechanics and specs. We guess a max win of x2,372 on a top wager of $40 is not horrible for a medium variance slot, but we have seen games in this class with far more alluring prize potential. How much you can win aside, the Hold & Win round is just not enough to make us play this spinner multiple times. The slot is somewhat eye-catching, but there are far better Wild West-themed titles out there. We assume its current popularity probably stems from its novelty, as we do not see anything else attractive here.
