Pine of Plinko 2 Slot Review
We are unsure if we have ever reviewed or discussed any of Print Studios’ games aside from Royal Potato. If we have not, shame on us, as this Malta-based developer, established in 2020, has fifteen high-quality slots to its name. It released the first Pine of Plinko (Dream Drop) game in December 2022, as a title boasting a max exposure of x10,000 on a top bet of $175.
The sequel to this Print Studio release came almost a year later, appearing on gambling sites on the seventh of December, 2023. In the first month of its global distribution, this product failed to make massive waves anywhere. Nevertheless, it trended decently in Canada, Finland, Norway, Austria, India, and South Africa. We went on a Plinko review run in the second half of 2023, and on account of this, we always kept the debut of this game in sight as its release loomed. So, we have now gotten around to reviewing it. And we present our opinion of it to you here.
Theme & Design
We already ran through that this is an addition to what will hopefully become a series from Print Studios. However, when writing the intro, we wondered how many tree-themed slots exist. We did some research. Yet, we could not come up with a conclusive number for you. We can only say it is likely in the dozens. Magic Oak by Habanero is one that we used to play a lot from this theme category.
The visuals here are akin to the ones in the original. The illustration style is very similar. The colors are a bit duller here, and some of the shading seems softer. Overall, we would say that the sequel looks more polished, and the tame soundtrack is not as repetitive. Although, it is not very dynamic either. The setting has now changed to a snow-ridden wooden house in the dead of winter, with the animated symbols spinning inside a frame flanked by the abode’s two column-like structures.
We would have wished that the presentation here would be a bit more thrilling at times, and it could have done without the line-win animations. But we cannot lie and say that this spinner looks bad. It has a pretty unique and cool presentation, and you can find all your spin/bet functions in the lower right corner of your screen, with the feature buy button above them, supplying the options to buy a scatter boost for x1 or the bonus buy for x92.
Specs & Gameplay
Pine of Plinko 2 is a high-variance slot with a betting range that starts at $0.10, which goes up to $50 per spin. The game utilizes a five-reel, three-row layout with ten paylines. The max win of this title stands at x20,000, and the default RTP of Pine of Plinko is 96.32%, but it can go up to 96.49%.
You win a reward in this interactive gaming product by getting its RNG to produce three to five matching symbols on one of its ten paylines. The low-pay symbols of this game are three different-colored leaf carvings. These produce wins of x2 for green and yellow five-of-a-kind combos and x3 for purple ones. Their premium counterparts are character tokens (four). They go by the names Waley, Coney, Kingly, and Piney. If this spinner displays five identical ones from this group, it will yield wins from x10 to x200, depending on which character appears five times on a win line on the same reel rotation. Piney is the most lucrative from this batch (x200), followed by Kingly (x50).
There are no wilds or substitution tokens in Pine of Plinko 2, but there are sand-glass clock scatters. We explain how these come into play in this slot below.
Bonus Features
You must hit three or more scatters in Pine of Plinko 2 to trigger this slot’s Plinko Bonus. Before starting this round, an opportunity to re-roll the numbers on the activating scatters gets presented, which is not available if their number gets considered too high. Note that each activating scatter displays a number, and when you add these up, you figure out how many starting drops you get in this Plinko Bonus. In this mode, you press the Drop button, which lets loose balls onto the pinboard area. These balls fall into fifteen gaps at the bottom, each boasting a corresponding prize value/multiplier up to a max payout of x1,000. As balls hit the bumpers in the center of the grid, a round meter gradually fills. Completing it activates the next stage, while an incomplete meter ends the round. Each stage has ten drops and doubles the balls per click, reaching up to 256. The bumper gimmick is something that we have seen in many dedicated Plinko games, proprietary ones, and site-specific picks.
We should mention that Bumper Buckets may randomly activate at any stage start. These cause balls that hit them to bounce back onto the gaming board. Golden Ball Pockets can also trigger at any moment. Getting a ball to drop in a Golden Ball pocket triggers a Golden Drop, giving you a chance to win a prize up to ten thousand times your stake. Here, one ball gets dropped, with the bumpers removed. When the Golden Drop finishes, you get sent back to the Plinko Bonus mode to conclude things there.
GOSU Verdict
Without question, Pine of Plinko 2 maintains much of the appeal of its predecessor while adding new aspects that aim to enhance the overall gaming experience. The top theoretical win here is lower than the original, and in our eyes, the enticement of this slot lies in how much you like Plinko gameplay.
If you are a Plinko fan, we are sure that you will love this slot. If you don’t, you may still fancy it, but it is unlikely that it will grab your attention for longer periods. That said, the volatility/variance level of Pine of Plinko 2 may be a bit much for some, and the rather basic base game no doubt lacks excitement. Still, the scatter gamble, the gamble feature, and the random bumpers and Golden Balls will do enough for the majority of online gamblers to keep coming back to this release at least a few times. So, we would recommend you try it out.
