It involves a protagonist called Mr. Beastwood, a buff, mustached, cigar-smoking hunter carrying a massive harpoon combing through a forest for monsters. His home is where the base game plays out, in a room with a fireplace and walls stacked with trophies from all the monsters this skilled hunter has slayed.

We quite liked the visuals here. They are painterly, but what caught our eye was the terrific use of colors. The palette is easy to look at and gives off a regal vibe. The symbols appear in a violet scroll that unwraps during the gameplay expanding the number of reels in play.

The music Quickspin opted to use for this game has a late-1990s-early-2000s PC strategy game feel, and the win effects are something out of a retro adventure movie. Overall, the presentation here is above average, boasting smooth animations and a pleasant fantastical atmosphere in tone with the theme of this slot.

The pay symbols here get divided into three categories. The low-paying ones are 10-A royals with base values from $0.15 to $0.25. Payouts here get calculated using a starting x1 win multiplier for the winning combo’s symbol. You can have multiple winning combos on the grid on the same spin, and each one can have its win multiplier. When one more identical symbol lands on a reel, these multiply the win multiplier. Wilds do this for all the win multipliers. When the win sequence ends, the payout gets determined by multiplying the respective winning token value using the win multiplier.

To trigger the Free Spins round of Beastwood, you must hit at least four Bonus symbols. Each additional one awards three extra complimentary reel rotations on top of the ten base ones. Inside this mode, x2 multipliers get attached above the fourth reel and each one after that one. Hitting a bonus symbol in this round provides an extra on-the-house spin.
