The Grand Show Slot Review
It has been a minute since we last scanned a Push Gaming release. That occurred in February 2024 when we reviewed DJ Fox, a Push Gaming slot that appeared online in December 2023. In the meantime, this famed provider has released around ten new titles, and it has expanded its presence in Mexico, Germany, Spain, and many other markets. We thought about what novel Push Gaming creation we should analyze on our site for this posting, and we were torn between Wild Swarm 2, Temple of Tollan, Samurai’s Katana, and the Grand Show.
We opted for the latter because we could not remember if we had ever looked at a circus-themed spinner. To our knowledge, we have not. Hence, the choice fell to this game that debuted on the 17th of July 2024. In the first two weeks following its launch, The Grand Show did extremely well in multiple markets, including Denmark, Canada, Finland, Norway, and New Zealand, territories where it ranked in the top one hundred most-played online gambling products in the initial half month it was available. When we saw this piece of info, we got more encouraged to check out this title, which we did, and below, we tell you what we discovered about it and our thoughts on its quality.
Theme & Design
We mentioned in the intro that we could not recall evaluating an online slot with a circus motif. We remember scanning Circus Launch Crash, but that is not an Internet one-armed-bandit, but a Busta-bit-inspired gaming pick. Nevertheless, this thought, circus spinners, led us to do a quick dive into this sub-genre and see just how many slots found on the Web implement circus-like elements. The number we came up with was over two hundred. That stunned us, to be frank. Some of the more popular choices from this collection include The Wild Class by Play’n GO, Clown Coins from Onlyplay, Relax Gaming’s Zombie Circus, and Big Cirus Mega Fire Blaze by Rare Stone.
Of course, with any game featuring this theme, we expect to see loads of colors, and that expectation got met here. Although the colors incorporated here are a bit duller than we expected, that is a good thing, as they create a more eye-pleasing blended look. There are loads of elements on your screen in the Grand Show, but the presentation here is surprisingly subdued. The game has classic circus-like music for background fare. It also has crowd and music sound effects that accentuate when something potentially lucrative occurs on the reels in the Grand Show. The background shifts in the bonus feature, as first, day turns to night, and then you get to enter the featured backdrop tent, where you get treated to a novel grid setup and a higher-paced soundtrack.
The buttons in the Grand Show get laid out in a vertical stack right of the 5×4 layout, where you get five bonus values presented. What we do not like about the button configuration here is that the auto-play and bet selector buttons are too small, and they get sandwiched between the spin one and the feature buy option.
As a whole, we think the presentation here is apt, and we appreciate the cohesive vibe it has.
Specs & Gameplay
We already told you that you get a 5×4 symbol layout in the Grand Show, and in this sub-heading, we will add that this grid is home to twenty paylines, where wins get formed utilizing a medium-variance math model that gets paired with five RTP settings, the most common of which is the 96.28% one. The max exposure here is x10,000, and the bet sizes you can choose from move from five cents on the lowest end to one hundred bucks on the highest.
You attained prizes in this Push Gaming creation by hitting three to five matching symbols on one of this game’s twenty paylines. When you do this with one of the four low-pay royals, get five instances of any of these four tokens to hit on a payline, the Grand Show will give you a reward of x2 for J and Q five-of-a-kind combos, or x4 for A or K ones. The premiums here are a bag of popcorn, a hotdog, a clown, and a lion/tiger tamer, generating wins of x12 to x100 for five-of-a-kind combinations. Note that the lion/tiger tamer can pay out wins when she lands twice on a spin. That is something that only the Tiger Wild can do as well. It also pays out prizes of x100 when hitting five times.
Bonus Features
There are instant prize tokens in the Grand Show that can carry values up to x500, and there are jackpot ones that can lead to wins of x10,000, a reward reserved for the Grand Mega prize. We should not forget to add that Top Hat symbols are also a thing here, and they may land on the leftmost and rightmost reels. When they appear on the leftmost reel, they collect Instant Prize or Jackpot symbols.
The ticket symbols here provide access to the free spin mode of this game, acting as its scatter. You need at least three of these to activate this round, where you can get instant prizes (x5 or x10) if you hit four or five scatters. Yet, Top Hats appearing on the leftmost and rightmost reels activates the previously mentioned bonus feature that plays out on a 5×8 grid. It has nudges, boosts, and retriggers. You can buy it for a cost of x58.6. You can purchase the free spin round for x46.4, x86.6, and x147, depending on the number of activating scatters you want to hit. Three scatters give you an extra three free spins on top of the default ten. Four get you four extra, and five supply a top-up of five more.
GOSU Verdict
We would rate the Grand Show as good but not great. We would say it is better than 80% of the games we see if not 90% of them. It has a trick or two, and we recommend you try it out if you find its theme appealing, but we would not call it anything overly unique or dynamic. We would say that its max exposure of x10,000 on a top bet of $100 and other base specs are the most enticing thing about this Push Gaming product, in our opinion.
