Tasty Treats Slot Review

GOSU GAME REVIEW

Okay, we have decided to take a break from analyzing Red Tiger and Pragmatic Play slots, even though many new titles from these two providers have broken through to the top one hundred charts. Loyal BTCGOSU readers likely remember that in January, we looked at Chaos Crew from Hacksaw Gaming. At that time, it was making some noise in the industry, and frankly, it still is, remaining a highly played slot in multiple markets. However, a few days ago, Hacksaw released Tasty Treats, which instantly rose through the rankings entering the top one hundred and earning the crown as the current most popular title in Hacksaw’s portfolio of seventy-plus games.

In 2019, Hacksaw struck a deal with Relax Gaming to offer their products on Relax platforms. So, that is why this reel-spinner and other Hacksaw games carry the Relax logo. We mention this so that no one gets confused when this slot loads and they see Relax Gaming plastered over it.

Theme & Design

The theme of Tasty Treats is sweets, treats that do seem tasty. Undoubtedly, this product has a Sweet Bonanza vibe, with some Jammin’ Jars appeal thrown in for good measure. It boasts extensive visual vibrancy. There are loads of saturated colors here, but they work well with each other, so nothing feels out of place or too much in your face. The background is an out-of-focus image of a magical candy landscape. The grid is in the foreground, transparent, and framed by a candy cane. The game logo lies on top of it. The implemented 2D graphics are rather basic, but they are crisp and look nice enough. Bubbles rising from both corners of the screen and a few light flares in the background break up the monotony here and add a bit of depth, liveliness to the scene.

Tasty Treats is an addition to Hacksaw’s Pocketz Series, which began in late 2019 with the release of OmNom. Pocketz titles have gotten super optimized for mobile play. Hence, their name. They have gotten designed to remove any dead space surrounding the reel grid when played on a smartphone for a more immersive gaming experience.

The button interface here is the same one from Chaos Crew. The spin, auto-play, and bet buttons are on the right side of the bottom grey panel, while the settings one is on the left. The latter lets you mute only the game’s music, or it, along with this slot’s sound effects. For some reason, the turbo-spin option is also in this section, as is the info page.

Specs & Gameplay

Tasty Treats utilizes a 6×5 layout and implements the cluster pays system. That means that symbols combos do not form on a predefined line. Five or more tokens only need to touch, connect vertically or horizontally for the game to play out a prize. When that happens, winning symbols get removed from the grid, and new ones fall in their place. That is essentially the avalanche mechanic in Megaways games. Per its game specs, this is a high variance game with an adjustable RTP, ranging from 96.21% to 88.10%. Though, the most commonly utilized RTP setting is 94.23%. The bet sizes in play here go from $0.2 to $100, and the max win potential of this slot is x10,000.

The low-paying symbols of Tasty Treats are five hard candies that pay up to x20 for clusters of fifteen identical tokens. Glazed sweets are the high-paying symbols here, and they can yield wins of up to x60 for fifteen matching treats in a connecting batch. A dripping cone is this game’s Wild. It substitutes all other symbols except for the FS one, which acts as the Scatter.

Bonus Features

Bubble Boosters, in various sizes, can appear at random during the gameplay, partially or entirely, overlaying Wilds or multipliers onto the grid. For example, a 3×3 Bubble Booster can contain nine Wilds. It is noteworthy that these bubbles do not affect Scatters, and their multiplier value can go up to x100.

The Monster Hand feature brings a giant blue monster’s hand into view. It removes symbols from the grid, making space for new ones to take these positions. It activates randomly and cleans the first three reels or the last three ones.

Hitting three Scatters activates the Free Spins round. When that occurs, each triggering Scatter morphs into a number, whose value determines the number of complimentary reel rotations awarded in this mode, from six to fifteen. More Bubble Boosters are available inside this round compared to the base gameplay, and it can get retriggered when at least one Scatter hits the grid again.

There is a Bonus Buy option here, and it comes with a price tag of x129.

GOSU Verdict

If you liked Sweet Bonanza and Jammin’ Jars, then odds are, you are going to be a fan of this game as well. There is nothing novel about Tasty Treats. It does not feel fresh. Nevertheless, its straightforward cluster-pay gameplay fueled by the avalanche/tumble/cascading mechanic, coupled with this slot’s colorful visuals, should keep casual spinners engaged for hours. We rate this Hacksaw Gaming title as above average and worth a try. Check it out if you believe it may soothe your sweet tooth.
