Book of Kemet Slot Review
We mentioned BGaming in several recent articles as a premium provider of provably fair third-party games. In keeping with this reputation, the company just released an Easter Plinko title, which this developer hopes to be a hit with casual game enthusiasts this holiday season. They also made the interactive gaming news cycle by introducing a new chief commercial officer (Ulf Norder) and unloading two new slots to online casinos in March. Book of Kemet and Easter Heist. Naturally, the first one is getting reviewed in this article, and we have not yet decided if we are going to analyze the latter-mentioned game. The chief reason we chose to scan it and give you our opinion of Book of Kemet is we looked at Book of Power from Relax a few weeks back, and now we wanted to let you know how this product stacked up to that spinner. So, read on below to find out.
Theme & Design
If you are reading this, odds are you know all about Book slots. For those few ignorant about these gaming products, this is a reference to a popular sub-category of reel-spinning games that got established thanks to the massive success of Novomatic’s Book of Ra. Going by some online gambling databases, around eight hundred and fifty titles exist in the digital sphere with a book as a part of their theme. Of course, not all these are Book Of games, but many are, and you would be hard-pressed to find a provider that does not have one of these products in its arsenal, as both this motif and Ancient Egypt visuals are mainstays of this sector, adored by many.
Kemet, the word used in this game’s title, is a reference to the Egyptian phrase meaning black lands. So, remember that.
We continuously make the mistake of going in with lowered expectations regarding presentation when analyzing BGaming slots. For some reason, we do not associate high-quality visuals with releases from this company. While Book of Kemet will not blow anyone away with its graphics, this game looks decent. Its painterly images are not bad looking, though we find something off-putting about the spacing in the reel grid. We cannot quite put our finger on it. Perhaps, it is when the royals land, there is too much space between the letters/numbers. The soundtrack of Book of Kemet is super subtle. It has a drumline and typical Egyptian beats, but their levels are low, and the Book of Dead-like sound effects dominate them when wins form. We must say that the line and win animations here are really nice. They are not overdone. Yet, they do enough to give some dynamism to a pretty 2D setting with little depth.
The reels here spin inside a stone structure with the game logo on the top and two monument structures on the columns supporting the top stone beam above the 5×3 layout. The button’s panel of Book of Kemet is the regular one BGaming implements. It has the spin functions on the right and the bet adjuster on the left.
Overall, we would rate the audio-visual feel of Book of Kemet as average.
Specs & Gameplay
As mentioned, Book of Kemet utilizes the industry standard 5×3 setup. It has ten paylines, a wagering range from $0.2 to $12, and a max win of x6,751, which is not that impressive given the maximum bet option in play. The variance of this slot is high, and the RTP is 95.88%.
You form winning combos on this slot by landing three matching royals or at least two premiums on the reel grid on any of the ten paylines. Five identical royals (A-10) supply wins of x100 or x150, while the high-pay tokens, three golden masks, plus a Rich Wilde knock-off character can yield up to x5,000 your stake for five-of-a-kind combos. The cited multiplier, x5,000, can only get provided by this game’s protagonist. While the golden mask-wearing character can deliver wins of up to x2,000, and five mask combos of either of the two animal ones give prizes of up to x750.
The book is the wild of this slot. It is also the scatter and pays the same prize (x5,000) as the protagonist for five matching wilds landing.
Bonus Features
Book of Kemet is your standard Book Of title. Its only bonus mode is a free spin round where one symbol gets chosen as an expanding one. You gain access to this mode when three or more scatter drop on the same spin. Note that the randomly picked symbol in this round pays even when it lands on non-adjacent reels. Plus, it will swell, covering all vertical positions. If you manage to hit three more scatters in this mode, it will get retriggered, and you will get another expanding token. The number of growing symbols maxes out at nine, but you can reactivate this round indefinitely.
GOSU Verdict
Another day, another Book Of spinner hits the Web. Unfortunately, like most entries in this genre, this one, gameplay-wise, is a mirror copy of its predecessors. Nevertheless, this review’s goal was to pit it against Relax Gaming’s Book of Power. And we must say that it loses this battle on all fronts. The Book of Kemet slot has worse specs and a less impressive presentation. On top of this, it just does not feel as polished or modern as Relax’s creation. So, if you are contemplating which game to select between these two new additions to the Book of category, Book of Power is, without question, the clear choice. At least, that is what we think.
