Red Door Roulette Live Game Review
Evolution has no shortage of live roulette games in its portfolio. Some are closely linked to real roulette games found in land-based venues, and others are one-of-a-kind titles with imaginative features and mechanics. Red Door Roulette is neither. Instead, this game borrows fundamental elements from two other exciting Evolution titles – Lightning Roulette and Crazy Time and rolls them up into one game.
Yes, we know that Crazy Time is a wheel-based game show title, so it is natural to wonder how its mechanics can feature in a live roulette game. We’re here to explain how, as we put Red Door Roulette under the microscope in our guide.
Theme and Design
Red Door Roulette gets its name from a visible red door located behind the host. It is through this door that you’ll be transported to a bonus round loosely based on Crazy Time. The basic roulette game itself, though, is loosely based on Auto European Roulette, albeit with keys associated with opening the magical door.
There is something very fairground-like about this live casino game, which has red and white stripes adorning its walls, the titular red door, and a visible wheel located on the back wall. Taking center stage in this game is the roulette wheel itself. As you might expect, all your wagering options are presented to you via conventional roulette betting board menus.
In short, the roulette part of the game looks just like any other roulette release, save for the slot wheel, while the bonus round is clearly inspired by and has all the hallmarks of that other Evolution hit Crazy Time. If you’ve played either of these types of Evolution games before, you won’t be surprised by what you see here.
Specs and Gameplay
Red Door Roulette is a two-part game. To begin with, you’re essentially playing European Roulette. You’ll get the usual roulette bets you can make, although payouts have been downgraded in this game on account of the bonus feature. If you want, you can play the game just as a normal game of live roulette would take place. Of course, you could choose any other title for that and land better payouts doing so. The main reason you’d play Red Door Roulette is to take advantage of those bonus mechanics. So, how do you trigger them?
To get yourself through the red door and into the bonus round, you’ll need to acquire keys. There will be between three and fifteen of those dispersed at random across the wheel. To land one, you’ll need to wager on a straight-up number. Multipliers may also be applied to those keys, ranging from 2x up to 20x. Obviously, you’ll need to place a straight-up bet and successfully win on that number to get into the next stage of the game.
How to Bet and Win
Ordinarily, you’ll have a very short time to get your bets in on Red Door Roulette. We’re talking about 10-30 seconds maximum. However, if you know your way around a roulette wheel, or more specifically, the betting board, then this should be a doddle. Stakes start at 0.50, so they aren’t super cheap. However, high-rollers can bet as much as 10,000.00 a turn here, making it a sure-hit amongst high rollers.
Once your bets have been placed, the host will spin the Red Door Slot, located behind the roulette wheel. This has numbers on it and will detail how many of the keys will appear on the roulette wheel. An RNG algorithm will now determine which of those keys receive multipliers and which multipliers (from 2x and 20x) are assigned. The multipliers are carried on to the bonus.
Any successful conventional bets you make will be rewarded according to the usual European Roulette paytable. However, successful straight-up bets without keys only pay out 19:1 instead of the usual 35:1 – that’s quite a drop. Outside bets in this game pay between 1:1 and 2:1, while lines, corners, streets, and splits can deliver wins of 5:1, 8:1, 11:1, and, obviously, 17:1, respectively. At most, you can win up to 4,000x your bet (3,999:1) in this game, but you’ll need a bit of luck in the bonus round, coupled with major multipliers from keys on the roulette wheel, to get there.
Remember, only straight-up bets can see you eligible to make it to the next phase of the game – the Crazy Time-inspired Red Door Roulette Wheel, which is, in effect, a redressed version of the wheel used in Crazy Time. As for RTP rates, the main game itself has an RTP rate of 97.3%, while the straight-up bets required to trigger the bonus have RTPs of 97.09%.
Bonus Features
If you’ve made it to the Red Door Roulette Bonus, you’ll find a wheel with sixty-four segments. These contain a variety of multipliers. Any multipliers you picked up in the roulette stage are carried over here and applied to all the spots on the wheel. The wheel is then spun. If the wheel lands on one of the few “Double” spots, then the prizes available are doubled, and another spin occurs. If the wheel lands on a payout, then that multiplier is applied to your bet, and you’ll win. At most, prizes worth up to 4,000x can be won in this live crypto casino game.
GOSU Verdict
At its heart, Red Door Roulette mixes the multiplier elements of Lightning Roulette alongside the bonus round from Crazy Time. This Evolution game is certainly going to appeal to live roulette players who fancy dropping their crypto stakes on straight-up bets. If you’re not doing that, you would be best served opting for another live roulette game. As mentioned, Evolution has plenty for you to choose from.
