Gold Vault Roulette Live Game Review
Roulette isn’t a game that is known for its epic wins. In a typical game, you’re often looking at prizes worth around 35:1 for a straight-up bet. Evolution has proven in the past that they can ramp up those rewards via multipliers, such as those found in Lightning Roulette. Now, they are at it again.
We’re going to explore the ins and outs of Evolution’s Gold Vault Roulette, and we’ll begin by saying that it is possible to win up to 500x your bet in this live game show title. Has that got you intrigued? If so, join us as we explain how this live casino game works and how the “gold bars” found in the vault can make the difference between a so-so conventional roulette win and an epic cash prize. Let’s get started.
Theme and Design
With a name like Gold Vault Roulette, it won’t surprise you to see a glistening, gleaming golden interface that makes for the backdrop in this live casino game. Evolution has ensured that the dealer stands before a golden vault, complete with bars, safety deposit boxes, and, naturally, a big thief-proof door. Make no mistake about it, though. We’re not here to commit a heist but to play some roulette.
The backdrop may sort of relegate the roulette wheel (which is also gold-colored) to nothing more than a bit of hard-to-spot furniture, but it’s definitely there and is central to the game. Beyond that, you’ve got the usual array of wagering menus and stats, and they are, of course, optimized for a spot of mobile gaming if that’s your bag.
Specs and Gameplay
Evolution absolutely didn’t want (or need) to create another run-of-the-mill roulette game here. They have plenty of those in their arsenal already. For those hoping that Gold Vault Roulette brings something different to the table, we’re sorry to disappoint. It does visually, but not necessarily from a gameplay perspective. Moreover, the game itself is an off-shoot of the now-decommissioned Gold Bar Roulette. It’s a new name for what is essentially the same old face.
The wheel itself is based on Auto Roulette. While you can, theoretically, bet any which way you want on what is essentially a game of European Roulette, the trick here is to slap down straight-up bets. That is, after all, how the twenty gold bars in the four lockers on the screen come into play.
While the conventional game takes place as usual, the gold bars are added once all bets have been placed. Each has a potential value of up to 50x applied to them. They are dispersed at random on the betting table, ramping up what you can win if you land a straight-up bet with one of the gold bars attached to it. There is also a Super Gold Bar (worth 500x) in this game, although its appearance is sporadic.
The number of gold bars and where they appear is determined by an RNG algorithm, as is the Super Gold Bar. The latter cannot be added to numbers that already feature a conventional gold bar. Once the bets have been made and the gold bars sorted, the ball is dropped in the Auto Roulette wheel, and the game begins. Any conventional roulette bets are paid out as usual, but you’ll receive higher sums if your number happens to feature gold bars. This seems rather simple, but that’s the way the game is played.
How to Bet and Win
Gold Vault Roulette has an RTP rate of 97.03% when playing straight-up bets, rising to 97.3% when you consider the overall game. That’s not too bad for a live roulette game. You can pick from two ways to play Gold Vault Roulette. If you simply want to play Auto Roulette on a European Roulette wheel, you’re free to do that. Just slap down your bet on the betting board as you see fit. However, if you want to make use of the gold bar multipliers, you’ll need to place straight-up bets.
It is worth noting that while payouts for conventional bets are the same as always, the prize for a straight-up bet (without a gold bar) is dropped to 24:1. Expect prizes of 1:1 for outside bets, save for dozens and columns, which are worth 2:1.
Inside bets pay 5:1 for a line, 8:1 for a corner, 11:1 for a street, 17:1 for splits, and, as mentioned, 24:1 for a conventional straight-up. If you’ve got a straight-up bet with one, two or three gold bars on it, you’ll win prizes of 50:1, 100:1, and 150:1. The Super Gold Bar can pay 500:1 if you land that.
Bonus Features
Gold Vault Roulette doesn’t feature side bets or bonus rounds. Instead, it makes use of gold bars and the Super Gold Bar as bonus mechanics but within the base game. Because of this, we don’t really consider them to be bonus features, as they are the primary reason you’d choose to play Gold Vault Roulette over other Evolution live roulette game show releases.
GOSU Verdict
We enjoyed having a crack at Gold Vault Roulette, but that comes with a few notes. Firstly, while the payout for conventional straight-up bets (with no gold bars) is 24:1, and that’s higher than XXXtreme Lightning Roulette, it’s lower than the 29:1 and 35:1 you’d get in Lightning Roulette and European Roulette, respectively, from the same software provider.
Multipliers are also roughly on par with what you’d get in Lightning and XXXtreme Lightning, so there’s not much originality there. It has a higher house edge of 2.90%, too, compared to the 2.70% you’ll find in other Evolution live roulette releases. What you’re effectively paying for here is a very gorgeous-looking roulette game, but one which does see the software provider tread in its own footsteps with stuff it’s already done. Nonetheless, if you fancy having a crack at it, you can expect to see Gold Vault Roulette in all crypto casinos featuring Evolution software.
