Jackpot Hunter Slot Review
Back in April, we reviewed a crypto casino called Jackpot Hunter. Now, it is time to analyze a game from Pragmatic Play with this name. It is one that fits in the adventure genre, boasting another Indiana Jones rip-off main character who is hunting for legendary riches in an exotic setting. It came out at select sites on July 15th, 2024, when it got its exclusive launch, and ten days later, Jackpot Hunter got its global distribution, ranking super high in several important markets in the first week of its release. The game entered the top ten standings in New Zealand, Norway, Japan, Sweden, Finland, the Netherlands, Korea, and many other territories. It also hovered just outside this elite society in Canada.
That should not come as a shock to anyone, as most of Pragmatic Play’s spinners do well when they hit gambling sites’ lobbies. Hence, it is too early to predict if this game will have legs based on its impressive early showing. What surprised us about the debuting success of this game was that we saw little press about it before its launch, but we still wanted to jump at the chance to review it. And here is what we found regarding Jackpot Hunter.
Theme & Design
The adventure category in the online slot landscape is probably one of its most popular ones, behind the Ancient Civilization motif. Play’n GO’s Rich Wilde paved the way for various other Indiana Jones-style explorers to appear on Internet reels, and that is something we have discussed quite a bit on BTCGOSU. Spinmatic even unleashed an Ed Jones series of games, which feature pretty much Harrison Ford dressed as Indie, with his eyes staying in the shadow his hat rim casts. John Hunter is Pragmatic Play’s answer to Rich Wilde, as he is a super-established slot adventurer, appearing in loads of games from this provider, ones covering multiple renowned gaming mechanics.
Jackpot Hunter does not appear to enter this highly competitive arena by focusing on a title character, which appears to be nameless here. He does have a female sidekick in this highly colorful jungle-set temple-featuring jackpot romp. We love the xylophone-like music in Jackpot Hunter, and the visuals here live up to the standard Pragmatic Play is known for in the interactive gaming sector. We would have liked to see a bit more movement on non-winning spins and the music to pick up when you are not doing well, as when you are. We would have wished to see a bit more dynamic presentation here. Jackpot Hunter is nice to look at, but it starts feeling a bit static if good fortune does not favor you for a while when you are playing it. The tease animations do something, but not enough.
Of course, you get the customary button interface here that Pragmatic Play has used for all of its slots for the past few years, with the logo spin button flanked by minus and plus bet adjusters and the auto-spin function below it. To the far left of these, you get your credit and bet info, along with the info, mute, and settings icons.
Specs & Gameplay
Regarding its specifications, you can find this online slot in three RTP iterations of 94%, 95%, and 96%. The last one is the most common variant of Jackpot Hunter, and like the other two, it also has a high-variance math model. The wager sizes here are the typical Pragmatic ones, from $0.20 to $240 per spin, and the top win stands at the customary one from this supplier – x5,000. You get a hit frequency of around 30 in this title, whose gaming fun plays out on a 5×4 layout with twenty betways. The odds of you attaining the maximum payout in Jackpot Hunter are one in thirteen million. So, they are not brilliant. But that is what you get with high-variance monsters.
Three to five symbol combos pay left to right, with only the highest combination getting cashed out in spins where multiple one’s form. The low-pay tokens of this Pragmatic Play creation are a torch, a whip, a revolver, a flask, and binoculars, paying x2.5 to x7.5 for five matching symbols for this group hitting on the grid on the same spin. The premiums are a map, a bag, a crocodile, and the female and male explorers. These high-pay tokens can produce wins from x10 to x50 for five identical symbols from this batch hitting on the same spin. The two explorers and the croc can also create wins when only two of these premiums materialize in view.
The golden temple is the scatter in Jackpot Hunter, showing up only on the middle three reels, and the compass is the wild, paying out wins for two to five instances of him appearing on this game’s layout up to x50 for five. There is also a wheel bonus symbol. More on that below.
Bonus Features
At the top of the grid in this slot, you can see the Mini (x25), Major (x100), and Grand (x2,500) jackpots. These can get claimed in the bonus map feature or the free spin mode. The first triggers when the mentioned bonus wheel lands on the symbol layout three times. When that happens, it takes you to a round with a map carrying forty-one steps and a wheel with different numbers of it. These represent steps, and you get five spins. A light moves on the map depending on the steps landed, stopping on positions that reveal prizes up to x20 or the word Jackpot. If you manage to collect three jackpots, you will get a random jackpot reward at the end of this mode. Four words get you either the Major or Grand rewards and five give you the Grand one directly.
The free spin mode in Jackpot Hunter also features a jackpot symbol collection, and for three hit scatters, you get twelve on-the-house spins. You can buy your way into this round for a price of x60. Access to the map feature is available for a cost of x20.
GOSU Verdict
You get what you would expect in Jackpot Hunter. It is an online spinner from Pragmatic Play that implements the usual bag of tricks this supplier adds to most of its releases. We hoped that we would get something different here, and we guess we could say the map feature adds a dose of something unique for a Pragmatic title. Yet, it does not do enough. We would rate Jackpot Hunter as good, but nothing novel or super interesting.
