Breach The Vault Slot Review
We have not looked at a Playtech spinner in a while. We were not sure when was the last time we had analyzed a game from this famous Isle of Man supplier, and upon diving into our review library, we discovered that we had only checked out six titles that have gotten released under the Playtech umbrella (ever), and the last one was not even a slot this studio’s team developed, it was a Skywind Group one, distributed by Playtech.
When we discovered this shocking info, we thought to ourselves, we have to make things right. So, we thought we had to rectify this injustice, which led us to open Playtech’s catalog, and looking through this company’s new releases, Breach the Vault caught our eye as a robber-themed game with a cool-looking main character that we had heard nothing about. Hence, we decided to go in blind to scanning this slot that came out on the twenty-second of July, 2022, and did well in the first week of its launch in markets like Canada, Ireland, the UK, Hungary, and Korea. So, let us explore it in depth below.
Theme & Design
We mentioned that we were going in blind on this reel-spinning heist adventure, and that is what we did. Thus, we were taken aback that this was a fruit machine title and not one that would feature wolf robber symbols. We expected something more modern, like Hacksaw’s Le Bandit or Cash Crew slots, Red Tiger’s Vault Cracker Megaways, or Bust the Bank from Games Global. Not what we got here. From the newer online gambling products we could label as ones with a classic machine theme, Play’n GO’s Fire Joker, Swintt’s Seven Seven Post and Pearl, and Break da Bank Again by Games Global are additions to this sub-genre that are doing relatively well everywhere. Of course, some may add Gamebruger Studios’ 9 Mask of Fire to this group, and we would have to agree that this highly popular pick can fit this description.
Concerning the presentation of Breach the Vault, we would call it overly classic. You have a basic 3×3 reel/row setup on the left side of your screen, sitting inside a golden frame, holding your standard machine symbols, fruits, dollar signs, and the like. On the right, you have the game board layout, which will get into below. The backdrop here is a still image of a dark and mysterious cityscape at night, and you get a cartoony detective soundtrack in Breach the Vault, paired with some standard fruit slot sound effects. The soundtrack here is not too shabby, and you get the betting functions in the bottom right corner of your screen, and the bet selector sits in the left one, with your wager balance and the info bottom above this number display. You also get a black bar at the bottom that repeats your site account funds and has the mute and settings buttons.
Specs & Gameplay
As noted above, the grid here is a basic three-reel and three-row one with five paylines. These lines pay for symbols landing across this game’s three rows and two diagonals. The variance level in this Playtech release is high, coupled with a return-to-player setting of 95.51%, and it features a max win of x1,000 your bet. The wagering range for the version of Breach The Vault we played started from a game lowest bet of five cents, and it goes up to a product-high wager size of $500, which is not something we see every day, and this is a top wager that is only suitable for super high rollers.
Technically, we already explained how you win rewards in this online spinner. You had to line up three matching tokens on this slot’s five paylines. The symbols in Breach The Vault are cherries, lemons, oranges, grapes, watermelons, bells, sevens, and gold plates (bar tokens). These pay from x1 to x1,000 (gold plates) for three identical symbols hitting on a payline in Breach the Vault.
The silver dollar sign is this game’s scatter, and it triggers the bonus features here.
Bonus Features
The main attraction in Playtech’s Breach The Vault is the Game Board feature, where when a dice materializes on the grid in the given free spins, that action moves the wolf robber on the game board to forward positions. The number of spots the wolf advances depends on the number the landed dice displayed. The wolf goes around the board toward a center, where a vault sits (the vault cash pot), holding an enticing win amount you hope to move to. Arrows move you inside and out of board sections.
You get access to this extra mode via three scatters (dollar signs) materializing in view in a base game round. The rewards that sit on the game board are a random prize from the offered selection, two more free spins, a moneybag (five get you the vault’s cash pot), extra board moves, and the equivalent of the value x bet added to the cash pot. Essentially, this free spin bonus round is the chief reason to play this game. It is the most interesting thing about the Breach The Vault online slot.
GOSU Verdict
We have to keep it real and admit when we have made a mistake. From all the recent batches of games Playtech has released, we likely chose to review the least exciting product. Our bad. We probably would have been better off picking something like Quad Link: Count, Playtech’s licensed Deadliest Catch slot, their Kraken Spins title, or this company’s Ancient Egypt’s Queen’s Mystery. Yet, we randomly chose this digital fruit machine with a wolf robber twist.
Aside from its slightly attractive bonus round, we are struggling to find something else to praise about Breach The Vault. We guess we could highlight the maximum bet of $500 per spin as a positive here, but that is the only spec that is compliment-worthy here. So, we can only say that this spinner is a good choice for lovers of classic slots who also have deep pockets.
