Theme & Design – Specs & Gameplay

Relax’s new title, Templar Tumble, carries with it a nice range of bet sizes and boasts a max win of 17280x your stake. It has an aesthetic that matches the title of the Crusades with a statue of a knight carrying a shield bearing a cross on one side and a stature of a dragon like creature on the other. The board is surrounded by what could be the entrance to a great hall or temple from the time of the Crusades. Following the likes of Kluster Krystal’s, the graphics seem a step back, but the 2D board and scenery are pleasing to look at and the sound effects have a familiar feel from the other games in the Tumble series.

Each of the games in the Tumble series have the same bonus entry requirement, clear the dead blocks. The difference however is the tiles each game offers to help you do so. In Temple Tumble, the player is on their own with no help clearing other than making line connections. Once in the bonus you are offered 3 volatility levels to try and build a massive win. TnT tumble’s base game offers dynamite that can clear a single row when a connection is made adjacent to them, and again offers 3 levels of volatility for the bonus game. Tower Tumble introduced books that offered different powers to help clear the dead blocks and the bonus again offers multiple levels of volatility to let the player choose.

Templar Tumble, while maintaining the main Tumble mechanic of clear the board for bonus, is a bit different. Templar Tumbles offers something much more akin to a mini feature than the others in the series. Any time a wild tumbles into view, base game or free spins, a number of blocks are turned into a mystery symbol. In the base game, the blocks that are transformed are randomly selected deadblocks, and in the free spins, it is any randomly selected symbol (there are no dead blocks in the bonus). The mystery symbols remain until there are no more line connections and then they break to reveal either a symbol or what you are hoping to see, a gold coin. The coins then flip revealing a multiplier or if in free spins, they may reveal extra spins. After revealing your prize, the coins break like normal blocks and trigger another cascade, giving the possibility for more wilds and if you’re lucky more coins. During my session with the demo, I saw multipliers ranging from 1x your stake up to 500x.

Verdict

In my short time with the game demo, a few thousand spins, the bonus came often enough to keep my attention. The miniature feature is a nice addition to the game as it gives the base game the ability for some massive wins. As a fan of Relax games and a fan of all of the Tumble games, I can say that I am more than excited for this one. The addition of the Razor Shark like coins adds a new level of exciting ways to win in this already popular series.
