Transylvania Night of Blood Slot Review

GOSU GAME REVIEW

If you follow our slot review page, you know we have a soft spot for Red Tiger Gaming. The studio operating under the Evolution banner is one of few worldwide-known developers with reel-spinners available in the US and Canadian markets. Around fifty of its titles are on hand in North America-based online casinos. On the game-releasing front, Red Tiger has remained super active recently, and they have even up the ante by pumping out more games than ever. In March 2023, they unleashed five spinners, and the one we will be looking at here, Transylvania: Night of Blood, is their latest product. It hit casino lobbies on March 23rd of this year and is not doing terrifically anywhere. Yet, we decided to give it a chance because it looked cool and reminded us of Dracula Awakening from Red Tiger, which we reviewed a year back.

Theme & Design

Transylvania is the home of Bram Stoker’s creation Dracula. As most literary-savvy individuals know, Dracula is a British Gothic novel by Irish author Bram Stoker, published in 1897. It tells the tale of solicitor Jonathan Harker’s trip to a castle of a Transylvanian nobleman to sell him some real estate. The character of Dracula in the mentioned book got inspired by Vlad III from Romania, also known as Vlad the Impaler or Vlad Dracula, often considered one of the country’s most renowned national heroes and a crucial ruler in Wallachian history.

Transylvania is a cultural and historical slice of land in Central-Eastern Europe, specifically, central Romania. It is famous for its castles and medieval towns, with much of the region’s tourism getting owed to curiosities relating to vampires, the fictitious creatures depicted in Dracula, and other works of art. These are mythical creatures from the folklore of many Slavic nations who feed on the vital essence of the living. In pop culture, they have gotten romanticized, and in the online slot realm, they have become a popular theme for developers. Around a hundred and fifty online spinners with this motif exist, and naturally, the most established of these is Microgaming’s classic, Immortal Romance. Though, Bloodthirst from Hacksaw Gaming is making big waves in this sub-genre.

The visuals here are pretty standard for a Red Tiger game. The base game set is an empty Victorian-like street. It is a painting that has some smoke overlay animation. It is a very still backdrop. In the foreground, the reels spin in a metal/silver frame while eerie horror-style atmospheric music plays, fitting for a vampire flick. The sound effects are Okay, and so are the symbol animations. However, overall, we have to say that the presentation here is somewhat boring, and we found it underwhelming. Things get a bit jazzier in the free spins. But not dramatically so to make us change our opinion.

You have the spin and turbo spin functions here in the bottom right corner, while the auto-spin and bet adjuster buttons are in the left one. In the top right of the screen, the settings, home, mute, and full-screen options lay for quick access.

Specs & Gameplay

The default RTP of Transylvania Night of Blood is 95.76%, which is acceptable for a high variance spinner. The max win here has gotten set at x7,439 on a maximum wager of $100, while the minimum is $0.1. The game’s layout is a 6×4 setup with 4,096 betways, and Red Tiger lists no hit frequency for this release.

Wins here get paid when identical tokens hit anywhere on adjacent reels from left to right. They do not have to connect/touch. You need at least three matching ones on a spin to claim a prize. The low-pay royals here (A-10) produce rewards of x0.8 to x2.5 for six-of-a-kind combos, while the image symbols yield wins of x3 to x8 for six matching instances from this batch landing in view.

Bonus Features

On any spin here, two to ten Vampire Bitеs may show up on the middle four reels. These are mouths with fangs, and the symbols appearing in positions marked by these fangs shall morph into Vampire wilds, represented by a beautiful male creature of darkness. Werewolves are also a part of this game, and they factor into the gameplay via Werewolf Scratches, which also can pop up in two to ten positions. When a symbol lands on scratched spots, it will get an x2 to x10 multiplier attached to it.

Now, the Vampire Spins token is a 1×4 scatter appearing on the first and six reels. In situations where two stop on your screen, this slot awards seven on-the-house spins. And in this mode, Vampire Bites may occur more frequently. There is also a Werewolf Spins symbol, which is another 1×4 scatter hitting on the same reels as the Vampire Spins one, and when two pop up, again, seven Werewolf Spins get provided, where the Werewolf Scratches are more likely to trigger.

If you hit a Vampire and Werewolf Spins scatters simultaneously, you will get seven Battle Spins. Where both the Werewolf Scratches and Vampire Bits happen super regularly.

Note that you cannot retrigger the bonus features of this game.

Transylvania Night of Blood

GOSU Verdict

In truth, Transylvania Night of Blood does not pack a ton of bite. But it is Okay. Its max win is likely the most eyebrow-raising thing this spinner has going for it, along with its somewhat dynamic modifiers that keep things interesting. The atmosphere here is eerie, but it is not the spookiest we have seen, and it is definitely not super engrossing, giving off a bit of a flat feeling. All in all, we would rank Transylvania Night of Blood as a title worth checking out. Yet, not one that is worth seeking out. If you are into vampires and find it at your chosen crypto casino, give it a try. Otherwise, we would suggest that you do not bother with it. It has nothing special to make it extra appealing to various demographics or veteran online gamblers.
